False bomb threat prompts evacuation in Spain

The center of Oviedo, in northern Spain, was evacuated this morning after a bomb threat was made over the phone. After investigation, it was understood that the report was unfounded.

In the news of the Spanish official news agency EFE, it was stated that a car loaded with a bomb was left in a parking lot in Oviedo in a phone call to the police report line this morning.

 

It was announced that the city center in Oviedo was evacuated as a precaution, and that measures were increased especially near the courthouse.

 

Police sources reported that many security guards were sent to the area to investigate the accuracy of the report, and police dogs and bomb disposal teams were also found in the city center.

 

Police sources said that after investigations that lasted for about 1.5 hours with police dogs and bomb disposal teams, when it was understood that the bomb threat was unfounded, the employees were allowed to return to their workplaces and the situation gradually returned to normal.
