In Nepal, protesters clashed with police at an anti-government demonstration organized by the student union of the opposition Communist Party of Nepal near the parliament building.
In Nepal, the student union affiliated with the opposition Communist Party of Nepal held an anti-government demonstration in the capital Kathmandu.
The demonstrators, chanting slogans against the government, walked towards the parliament building with torches in their hands. The protesters' attempt to break through the police security led to a brief clash with the police. While the protesters were throwing stones at the police, the police attacked the protesters who tried to break through the security circle with batons. In a statement made by the police, it was reported that many protesters were injured and the injured were being treated in nearby hospitals.
Areas where parliament, government offices and other public institutions are located in Kathmandu are considered forbidden zones. For this reason, demonstrations and protests cannot be organized in these areas. In case of violation of the rules, the security forces have the authority to take action against the perpetrators.
