According to the news published by the Spanish news agency EFE, based on the officials of the 5 Islands Emergency Aid Agency, it was noted that the boat carrying irregular migrants 250 kilometers off the Canary Islands was found half-submerged and overturned.
Stating that the 30-year-old female migrant on the boat managed to survive and the two people next to her were dead, the authorities stated that the woman who survived the dramatic event said that there were 40 people on the boat.
It was stated that the woman, who had some health problems, especially dehydration, was taken by helicopter and taken to the hospital.
On the other hand, there has been a serious increase in irregular migration from the North African coasts to the Canary Islands recently .
Spanish authorities announced that 8,222 irregular migrants arrived in the Canary Islands by 218 boats or boats until 15 August this year, an increase of 144 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
More than 230 irregular migrants have died of drowning or dehydration this year on their way to the Canary Islands, according to official data.
Representatives of non-governmental organizations, on the other hand, say that the death toll may be much higher as there are many boats that set off from the North African coasts but whose fate is unknown.
